Registration & Setup

Overview

Anyone can create an account on Shams AI in under five minutes. The right sign-up flow depends on whether you're an individual learner, a teacher, an organization, or a parent.

Choosing the right account type

Pick the description that fits you best.

Student sign-up

1. Click "Sign Up"

   From the home page, click the Sign Up button in the top right and choose Student.

2. Enter your details

   Provide your full name, email, a unique username (3–20 characters), and a strong password.

3. Verify your email

   We'll email you a 6-digit code that expires in 15 minutes. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or click Resend code.

4. Complete your profile

   Optionally add information about your current Juz, weekly goal, and learning preferences. You can change all of this later.

5. You're in

   You'll be redirected to your student dashboard, ready to log your first record.

Teacher sign-up (independent)

Use this flow if you're not joining an organization. If you've been invited by an organization, see Inviting Teachers instead — your invite link handles registration for you.

1. Pick "Teacher"

   Sign up and choose Teacher.

2. Profile basics

   Enter your name, email, username, and password.

3. Verify your email

   Enter the 6-digit code we send you.

4. Teaching profile

   Optionally add your experience, teaching style, and roughly how many students you have.

5. Add your first student

   From your dashboard, you can either invite a student by email or create a profile directly.

Organization sign-up

An organization is a top-level container. The first person to register an organization automatically becomes its primary admin.

1. Choose "Organization Registration"

   From the sign-up screen, pick Organization.

2. Organization details

   Provide:

   • Organization name
   • Address (street, city, state/region, postal code, country)
   • Primary contact email

3. Create your admin account

   This is the first admin user — typically the founder or operations lead.

4. Verify your email

   Enter the 6-digit code we send to your admin email.

5. Configure your organization

   Once you're logged in, you can immediately:

   • Create programs (e.g., Boys Hifz, Girls Tajwīd)
   • Set up classes inside those programs
   • Invite teachers by email
   • Enroll students individually or via an enrollment form

Parent sign-up

1. Pick "Parent"

   Sign up and choose Parent.

2. Get your child's parent key

   Ask your child's teacher for the student's parent key — a 12-character code unique to each student. Or ask your child to share it from their settings.

3. Link to your child

   From the parent dashboard, click Add Child, enter the parent key and your child's name. The link request goes to the student or their teacher for confirmation.

4. You can now follow along

   Once approved, daily records, charts, and homework status appear in your dashboard. You can link multiple children to one parent account.

Email verification

• Verification codes are 6 digits.
• Codes expire 15 minutes after they are sent.
• You can request a new code if you didn't receive the first.
• Always check your spam / promotions folder.

Password requirements

To protect your account, passwords must include:

• At least 8 characters
• At least one uppercase letter
• At least one lowercase letter
• At least one number
• At least one special character (e.g. !, @, #)

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive the verification email

1. Check your spam, junk, or promotions folder.
2. Click Resend code on the verification screen.
3. Confirm the email address you entered is correct.
4. If still missing, contact Username is already taken

   Try a variation. Usernames are unique across the platform.

   Password rejected

   Make sure you have all four character classes (uppercase, lowercase, number, symbol) and at least 8 characters.
