Overview

Managing your roster is a daily activity for most teachers. This guide covers adding, editing, organizing, and removing students.

Adding a student

You can add a student in two ways:

Invite by email

Use this when the student already has (or will create) their own account.

  1. Click "Add Student → Invite"

Open the roster and click the + Add Student dropdown, then choose Invite by email.

  2. Enter the student's name and email

You can invite multiple students at once by separating addresses with commas.

  3. Send

The student receives an email invitation. Once they accept, they appear on your roster automatically.

Create a profile directly

Use this when the student is younger or you want full ownership of the account.

  1. Click "Add Student → Create profile"

  2. Enter basic information

Name, optional email, optional date of birth. The system generates a parent key automatically.

  3. Save

The student appears on your roster. You can hand the parent the parent key whenever they want to link.

Organizing students

  • Tags — add free-form tags (e.g. beginner, intermediate, weekend) to filter your roster.
  • Classes — if your organization uses classes, students belong to one or more classes.
  • Notes — leave private notes on a student's profile, visible only to teachers and admins.

Editing a student

Click a student to open their profile. From there you can update:

  • Display name and basic information.
  • Class assignment.
  • Tags and notes.
  • Parent contact details.
⚠️
Be careful with email changes. Updating a student's email triggers re-verification on their next login.

Removing a student

From the student profile, click Remove from roster. This:

  • Removes them from your active list.
  • Does not delete their account or records (an organization admin can re-assign them).

Parent linking

Each student has a parent key — a 12-character code parents use to link their account to the student's. You can find it in the student's profile under Account → Parent key. Share this with the parent (or their teacher) when they create a parent account.

Bulk operations

For larger batches, use enrollment forms — see Enrollment Forms.
