Student Transfers

Move students between classes or programs without losing records.

Overview

Students often move between classes during a year (level changes, schedule changes, team-teaching swaps). The platform supports moves while preserving all records.

Moving a student to another class

  1. Open the student

  2. Click "Change class"

  3. Pick the new class

  4. Add a transfer note (optional)

    Useful for the new teacher to understand context.

  5. Save

    The student is removed from the old class and added to the new one. All records stay attached to the student.

Moving between programs

Same flow, but pick a class in a different program. Records still follow the student.

Moving between organizations

This is rare. The student must:

  1. Be removed from the source organization.
  2. Be added to the destination organization (typically via an invitation).

Records do not transfer between organizations automatically. Contact Parent access after a transfer

Parent links survive a class transfer. Parents continue to see their child's records seamlessly.

Best practices

  • Always add a transfer note. Future teachers will thank you.
  • Move at the start of a teaching period, not mid-week, to avoid analytics noise.
